Anotacija
The main aim of this lecture is introducing students to the mass movements in the former Communist Bloc and demonstrating that these movements were mainly based on the national issues. From this the main perspectives of the analysis are presented – the theories of nationalism and the theoretical field of Social Movements.
This course is aimed at presenting and analyzing the phenomenon of mass mobilization in the Communist Bloc and Lithuania in particular, at the end of the Soviet period, and LPS as the main social movement that achieved this mobilization for the implementation of national interests whilst placing Sąjūdis in the broader international socio-political perspective of the late 1980s.
